If there was any doubt left that Chicago inspectors are corrupt, now there is no question that this is the unfavorable truth.
A former city plumbing inspector, Travis Echols, admitted that taking bribes was part of his job routine on the trial against his former boss, Gregory Toran.
After getting caught, Echols cooperated with the FBI, and provided evidence that showed Toran taking what he thought was his cut of the money Echols made for overlooking substandard plumbing.
Toran, who is being tried on federal court, worked for Chicago for 20 years, so there is no estimate of how much he has taken in bribes during his entire employment with the city.
