Adam Andrzejewski has been on a mission with his watchdog organization, For the Good of Illinois, to persuade school districts to post their check registers online. One of the most recent to do so is Elmhurst Unit District 205.
"Superintendent Lynn Krizic just posted it; she was really good about it," Andrzejewski said.
Krizic said the first registry was posted in PDF format on the agenda for the May 23 board meeting, and future documents will be connected to meeting agendas, as well.
However, the documents will be posted with the agenda of the previous board meeting, she said, due to the fact that checks aren't issued until the meeting after the board approves the spending.
"Certainly nothing is legally binding for school districts to post their transactions," Krizic said. But, she added, District 205's action shows that it strives for transparency.
