For the fourth time in a row, voters decided not to approve a referendum for Ridgewood High School District 234. Unofficial results show that the measure was defeated with 55.83% which translates into 3,311 votes against, and 44.17%, or 2,620 of the votes were in favor the referendum.
The school district was proposing the voters to raise the limiting rate on their property taxes for a year, and would have raised the property taxes of a single-family home about $20 a month.
After being informed of the results, the school board president did not rule out trying for a fifth time during the next elections this spring. The board also said that they may have to make some budget cuts.
