The Latham village mayor, David Woodside, resigned abruptly, and just left a set of keys and a resignation note for the village board members.
The decision may have something to do with the fact that the village did not publicize their agenda since last year, as required by the open meetings act, and as a result, it is now under investigation by the state’s Attorney General’s office and there is a civil lawsuit against the village.
Another board member, Wayne Johnson, resigned right after the board found out about Woodside’s resignation.
The village will now have to re-vote on the issues that were addressed during the meetings whose agenda was not posted, and the earliest meeting fitting the criteria was on August, 2007.
Board member Jason Potter will now act as Mayor Pro-Tempore until a new mayor is elected on April of next year. This means that the village board will work two people less than usual.
